hey all,

My name is John, and earlier this fall i picked up this 1970 malibu sport. it needs a lot of work, but this is my dream car. and i cant wait to get in on the road. i dont have the money to restore it right now. but im going to clean it up as much as i can, and put in my 468 bbc.

the last owner stuffed it with bondo, so i gotta lot of chipping and getting that all out. i want to do this right.

bringing her home, my buddy loading her up.

thanks! ya i've been working at her slowly. im hoping to have it out for some fun this spring and summer! hopefully even race at the track if it opens this year.

I know there are many ways of building cars, and doing it in a shop, with a lift, and state of the art tools, is not what I have available.....

I have a car, a grage, and basic tools. i'm going to build my car with what i have and what little money i have to spend.

I didnt want to buy a car already done, i like working on my cars and having the great feeling of telling people i built that.

This car wont be a show car. My plan is to have it good enought that people will look at it and not call it a piece of .... . i'm building a hot rod, i guess thats the closest word for it. my plan is to paint it flat black and put my 468 bbc in.

i dont mind input on how to do things or if you think something wont work... you can even tell me if something wont work at all, and that im an idiot. like i said, im doing what i can with what i have.....

really didnt know where to start. i didnt have a warm shop to work on it, it seemed like right after i bought it the weather got super cold. so i stuck the car in our barn and i started to sand the body. i wanted to get an idea of where the bondo was. and get the body at least started.
overall i just didnt know what else to do, so i just kept sanding away.

after doing that i stopped for a while....

So then my father in law told me i could have his floor pans from his 64 olds. they were brand new, but had sat for a while. so they had surface rust. well, while me i my friend were working on the floor we realized they were an exact match. other than they were 6-8in longer than my floor.

my buddy kyle showing me how it's done lol

we found this fiberglass sheet stuffed in a rust hole. i thought my standards were low, but the people before me had no standards at all!
