Ok, so laws, and rules, and all the township BS are restricting the track from moving forward in an "official" form? Is there any way the owner can just open it up as his own "for fun" strip? I mean lets say I owned 10 acres and wanted to build a go cart track for me and all my friends and anyone that wanted to come, who can stop me, my property I can do what I want in my own leisure and recreation sense. For legality had some sort of official wavier form written up so when people step on the property they sign it, so that can't sue if they get hurt. He can put out a coffee can accepting donations for "things". I would gladly throw money in every single time I came out for a night. So maybe it won't be nhra, or ihra legit or anything, who cares? I just want to go out an have a good time racing my car. Am I totally wrong in my logic, or am I the one not thinking logically here?

You DO NOT have the right to do with your own property what you see fit, that is part of the problem here..........All it takes is one stoggy neighbor to ruin your fun, crush your dreams and make your kids/ grand kids cry...........

the suggestion about what to wear was a suggestion. Sometimes you have to play along with these kind of people to get what you want. I am not suggesting going down to their level but to approach them in a way they would understand. Remind them who most of the guys, that would be racing,as to what their background is. This is not some big city group trying to horn in on the country folk. How old is this woman-sounds like she is in her 70's. Anyone got directions to this hall? I think we have had our family reunions there but not sure. I have ried calling that phone number only to have it ring and ring with no recorder online. I wonder if they have ever heard of mufflers? I am going to write a letter to the voice of the people in the Jackson Citizen Patriot. I would suggest others do the same. You can do it online. I have put out the word on other forums about what is going on and have put links to this forum so others can get involved. I am currently putting 2 different cars together with the sole purpose of running them at this track. Another thing is we need to expound on the economics of this deal in terms of jobs, money coming in to the area every week, ect. Beat them with common sense and the state of the economy. Well, time to get over to the shop and work on my old 62 Chevy II wagon. Got a practice engine and trans installed, now I need to get radiator fitted and figure out what I am going to do with fuel tank. I am going to modify the OE tank with a sump, ect. Need to fit the seats in it-still ahve quite a bit to get done. Changed up the front clip last week to one from Arizona-no rust and now need to beef it up. These cars are nothing special-just something to have fun with and get my old feet wet in drag racing. I used to race sprint cars which is quite a bit different than these but looking forward to learning how to make these cars go down in a straight line. It would be a damn shame not to open this track. It should be grandfathered in and I am surprised it is not.

Slowly getting my piece of junk ready to have fun with it at Onondaga Dragway. Advice, suggestions, constructive criticism welcomed. Still in need of parts to finish it off.

The problem is that a handful of locals are voicing their rights as township tax payers. And the local residents with voting rights either don't know or just don't care or nobody is informing them that a few people are passing their agenda on to everyone else in Onadaga township. If you know anyone in Onadaga township have them call the township board members before the June 9th township meeting and tell them to support the track. The few trouble makers made it quite clear at the planning commision meeting in May that only local tax payers "MATTER" to them. Even if they get their paychecks in a different township kind of hippacritical don't you think. These same individuals probably don't have a problem going to MIS or Cedar Point or to a fire works show and causing traffic problems for the locals there { but oh no not in my back yard} well that is a bunch of B.S. But to educated premidonnas {do as i say not as i do} thats typical politcal " bullshit"

I live up in mason not to far from the track. If someone wanted to make up a flyer of some nature hitting all the points as to what is going on, and what could could be brought by allowing the track to open back up I can print off a few 100 at work and canvas the township if you think it would help. I mean hell what about organizing a car cruise thru the town and up and down some of the streets with 10-20 cars handing out flyers and shit. The cars will draw the attention and then we get an opportunity to explain to residents (that likely have no idea whats going on) whats REALLY going on.

I believe the more you get the word out the better. What is the owner of the track doing? I don't know him and wouldn't know him if he walked right up to me. It would be good to know what he is thinking as a united front would certainly be better. I am surprised that he would not have flyers and such printed up,ect. I am writing a letter to the "voice of the people" section in the Jackson Citizen Patriot and would encourage everyone to do the same. If they have such a section in the Lansing paper,it would be good to write them as well.I am not sure about the Leslie paper as most people who live in the area is going to work in Lansing or Jackson. The track needs to be seen as a positive, exciting opportunity not to be lost because of a few well meaning, ignorant uninformed, shortsighted citizens.

here is the link to the Jackson paper where you are able to write a letter or note to state your opinion as to why the vote should allow the track to operate. http://www.mlive.com/mailforms/jacitpat ... /index.ssfFor those of you who are aways from the area, maybe talk about how you would be bringing outside money to the area, providing jobs, getting kids off the street, ect just a suggestion. It would be great if everyone would take a few minutes of your time and write a few lines. If the paper saw a great deal of interest on this subject, they might write an article about the history of the track, positive reasons as to why it should be allowed to operate.

If this were a movie with a happy ending, here's how it would go; all the locals who cared would picket the vote meeting with signs that said "I support the race track and I vote" or "If you want to keep your council jobs vote yes"ect, ect. Then just 1 more council person would change their vote , and the dragway would open. hell , I can't throw a stone without hitting a garage with a hot rod or 2 in it, but these folks are to busy to pay attention to what's going on. We need to go door to door to get supporters to go raise hell at the vote meeting on the 9th. With the internet we as a tool , we could do it.
