THE TOWNSHIP BOARD VOTED TO DENY THE PERMIT THAT WOULD HAVE ALLOWED THE DRAG STRIP TO OPEN.

I was at the meeting tonight and I stood up and spoke out in favor of allowing the track to open. There were approz 50 people there and the majority was in favor of it opening. The board member who is also on the planning commission asked the board to have the issue sent back to the Planning Commission. He said the planning commssion did not have all the facts in front of them when they voted to deny the permit. Even the head of the planning commission asked to have the issue sent back to them. Stupervisor Maiville denied it saying that it had gone on long enough. 2 of the board members voted in favor to deny the permit while saying they were voting in protest. I assume they were voting in protest as they thought it should go back to the planning commission. Board member Tow who is also on the planning commission voted no against denying the permit. So the vote was 4 yes,1 no to deny the permit. 2 of the yes votes were made in protest. I believe as it was presented to the board, the members felt they had no choice. I also believe that it was very short sighted of the Stupervisor to make a statement saying it had gone on long enough. The right decision needs to be made no matter how long it takes to come to that decision. If you do anything else you are not doing what is in the best interest of your constituents.
It is a damn shame and I hope that the owner takes the comments made this evening and uses them in his favor. I still find it hard to believe that the track is not grandfathered in. I am also surprised that it was only myself, the head of the planning commission and another planning commission member were the only ones to speak out during the public speaking part of the meeting. I really thought it was going to be alot longer than that.

You are right in that alot of people have spoken out before this meeting in favor of allowing the track to open. I just thought that everyone would have spoken out again but it seems that those in the know knew which direction this meeting was going to go. Jim Tow certainly did. I believe that is why he spoke so strongly about getting it sent back to the planning commission because he knew that the Stupervisor was going to pull this crap and use the Planning commission's own words against him and them. Damn shame.
I don't know if Dan was there. I don't know him but I hope he will keep pushing this and if there is anything I can do to help,I hope they will let me know. There is no reason for them not to allow him to open this track and make a living doing it. I spoke with the president of the Jackson Area Board of Realtors today and if anyone would know as to whether or not that the track would negatively affect property values it would be him. He laughed when I asked him that question. He said the only thing hurting property values is the economy not the track. The track would help the local economy and thus property values. they have the truth so twisted.

nere is the link to the Jackson Citizen Patriot article where one of the women who voted under protest acknowledged that her vote was swayed by the threats

Ok, it's time for all of us to step up. We need to know if possible what the next move is and how we can all get involved. There has to be a way around these closed minded people who only have their best interest at heart.

We need to get a movement going in the right direction, petitions maybe, support from Law Enforcement on the dangers of street racing and how the track would be a good thing to help prevent it etc.

So since they denied the permit for use as an open dragstrip, whats the chance of saying up yours and turning the track into a 'Private Club strip" like it was before, racing was allowed for the local clubs with no permit, why not charge a "Club Membership" and say "Club Dues each club event raced" and start racing or at least start organizing some car shows and cruise nights to raise some money to lawyer up. I know there are alot of us in the Jackson area that would be more then happy to donate to the cause. The Counsil may be protected from lawsuits but our good friend on Kinneville rd is not nor are the others that were opposed, since he want's to threaten people to get his way stick a few lawsuits frivalous lawsuits on him and the others, make them have to lawyer up and defend their actions , a good suit would be loss of potential income from the 2011 race season, once it starts costing them a thousand here and there each time they have to hire a lawyer they will turn belly up and crawl back under their rocks

I think something needs to be done to help with the fees to get it opened also. That will tell you how many people really are for it and not just runnung their mouths!!!Car shows and fund raisers maybe t shirts or other things. All I know what a crooked bunch of people in that township!!!! It would be one thing to get voted down fair and square but to do it the wat they did totally wrong and I agree it needs to be pursued good luck Dan and Ray.
